Excess Baggage Charges Hit Passengers Hard
As if you needed more reasons to trade in your many cumbersome bags for a sleek, multifunctional Gate8 all-in-one wheeled garment bag, a recent study by website Kelkoo has added another to the list.
According to the report, millions of air travellers will have to fork out hundreds of pounds on excess baggage charges in the coming year. The study found that last year an estimated £186 million was spent on excess baggage and it is budget airlines that are making the most from travellers. In the six week summer season, some 3.8 million will incur fees adding up to around £37 million.
While Gate8’s garment carrier and laptop bag combination facilitates travelling light, the report does offer a warning to business travellers. 22% said they had not weighed their luggage before checking in, and as such were hit with unexpected fees.
So weigh your baggage before check-in, and don’t forget to make it Gate8.
